Maple

So, Maple Canyon part 3 (click for 1 and 2). Who was there? Frank and I, Jon and Nancy, Deanna and Danielle, Andrew, Steve and Deanna, Christy (Steve's sister), and Bryant (Christy's friend), with Ryan and Libby dropping by on our last day.

Ten hours of driving through L.A. traffic, Vegas heat, Arizona wilderness, and Utah turkeys. We had a good time. Thanks to Deanna W. for reserving the campsite for everyone!

There was food, drink, and fire. I read Yann Martel's Life of Pi from start to finish, and continued knitting on a sock project. Frank got angry at a couple of climbers for climbing on other people's draws. Everyone redpointed at least 1 of their climbs. Frank tried Andrew's 13a. Deanna HCQ took a carabiner from a climb, so we'll have to return so you can put it back, right Deanna? I had a 20-foot fall. Frank and I discovered Craggamore, all good-looking 12s, although a bit dirty at the starts. We ate wild raspberries. Andrew redpointed a few 13as. *Imagine* if he roped up regularly!

We watched Vadim Vinokur climb. It rained for half an hour on our first day. We talked to Bill Doyle, who put up a lot of routes in the Canyon, and Randy Leavitt. I watched a teenage girl glide up a climb, which has encouraged me to refine my climbing technique. I took pictures. Lots of them. Of course, that's what you came here for, right?
